Cabinet approves “carbon tax” of 200 baht/ton to support Thailand towards Net Zero

Today (21 January 2025) Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, revealed that today's Cabinet meeting resolved to approve in principle the draft Finance Ministry Regulation on Excise Tax Rates (No. ..) B.E. .... by setting criteria for the carbon price mechanism in the excise tax rate collected from oil and oil products, which the draft Ministerial Regulation proposes.
